Under a Blue Moon

Decor, cooking, organization, all the pretty things

July Favorites

This is my first monthly favorite post!  It may evolve as I figure out exactly how and what I want to present.  These are all things I have tried/bought/seen and love.

I am going to try to group things in categories but the categories may change from month to month.  This whole blog is ever evolving so we are just going to go with the flow.

Beauty:

  1.  Lemony Fluttery cuticle cream   2.  Orly Breathable nail polish in Kiss Me I’m Kind   3.  Crystal nail file

I’ve been making a concentrated effort to take better care of my nails.  I’ve flirted with doing my own gel manicures (which I like but is labor intensive and maybe not so healthy for your nails), a misguided and totally one-off episode of glue on nails (looked great, wreaked havoc…) and just leaving them bare.  I finally just cut them all short, started pushing my cuticles back properly and only file them with a glass nail file.  I’m also treating them to a nightly slathering of Lush cuticle cream which is divine.  Pricey but goes a super long way so the tub should last me a year at least.  I’m also loving my glass nail files which I bought only for the packaging.  I’m sure most glass nail files work the same.  And finally I’m using a nail polish that claims to be good for your nails.  So far I don’t have any complaints and I love the sheer pink “your nails but better” look I get with the shade “Kiss Me I’m Kind.”

Home:

GORGEOUS Scandinavian home

My favorite kind of kitchen remodel – when they stay true to the era and heart of the home.

Lovely 1930’s cottage

I’m all about the sunny and bright, yet soft colors.  While I love the 30’s Texas cottage, the Scandinavian house is the most appealing to me.  I love all the white, muted greys, wood and, of course, the plants.  I could definitely live that way.

I’m just finishing up my second week at the new job and every day I love it more.  I’m working with an incredible team.  Everyone is so helpful and encouraging and the energy is so positive.  I am looking forward to the weekend, though.  Just to give my brain a rest.

We don’t have plans, by design.  I’m just trying to get used to my new normal.  I hope you have a splendid weekend, whether it be relaxing or embarking on some kind of adventure.

Instagram post 2341822581690526825_13069943 There are more sprinkles on the floor and in someone's tummy than on the cake pops.
Instagram post 2340945580020536121_13069943 Guess who is getting some Grandma time this weekend! Rick thought this was a little over the top but I just wanted to fulfill my Holiday fairy tent fantasies.
Instagram post 2340488496363792013_13069943 I ran out of day (and daylight) to take a real photo so you get a pithy saying instead. Happy weekend! You are all dear to me. Just thought you should know that.
Instagram post 2339648001521628748_13069943 It's probably time to upgrade.
