Another quick one…
A few weeks back, gosh, who knows maybe a few months back – I’m not entirely sure where the Summer has gone – I was visiting Dawn’s Feathered Nest blog and discovered she and her partner Cindy run a brick and mortar Antique Store called The Plum Tree Antiques in McDonough, Georgia.
I envy just about everyone that is east of Nevada because they seem to have MUCH better antique stores than we do here in California. I think California’s attics aren’t old enough yet so the types of treasures I covet haven’t made their way into the shops yet. Or there are much more intrepid and swift shoppers that get to all the good stuff before I can get my head out of the clouds.
I’m wistfully looking at all the lovely things on the Plum Tree blog when I realize they ship! Just about anywhere! Woohoo Dawn and Cindy!
So the little, vintage toy cash register had to be mine. And after a few quick emails, a teeny delay because I was out of town, and it was on its way to me.
I can just imagine owning a little shop some day and having that little register behind the counter in a display.
Take a look at their website and if anything catches your eye shoot off an email to them. It’s practically like being there in person.

Sounds like a great site, I will visit it. I agree about antique shops out west. We lived in upsate NY in the 80’s and we furnished our entire first house with antiques for hardly any money. We still have most of them because they are priceless and built so well. I keep saying one of these days I’m going to get a truck go up to NY buy a bunch of stuff and truck it out to California and become rich!

Andrea, We are so pleased that you liked the little register. Thank you for linking us in your blog, we have already had another inquiry about another piece in the store. We love your blog and your taste of course.

I was told about your blog awhile ago by your lovely sister, Nicole. I ran over and stole the watermelon margarita recipe and ran off again, promising myself that I would return. I’m baaaaack, and I certainly chose the right time!
I agree totally about the antique stores on the West Coast not being as good as the ones back East. My son and his family live in West Virginia, and I have been to a few antique shops there – oh, they are wonderful, and the prices were very good.
I love your baby cash register – too cute!
I think I will definitely visit this online antique shop – thanks for sharing!

My theory–after considering all the excellent thrifting done by bloggers such as Kim of Daisy Cottage in Florida–is that people don’t really come to Northern California, transporting all their family heirlooms, to retire and die and have their estates sold off. No sir, indeedy. We here in Northern California retire and move AWAY to some place less expensive where it doesn’t get to be 115 degrees every day for a good part of the summer. (And what the heck happened to our DRY heat anyway?!)

Admit it…you are adicted like the rest of us and no matter how busy you are, you still squeeze a minute in here and there to post and read!
