Under a Blue Moon

Decor, cooking, organization, all the pretty things

Quick post

Flower_pots

Just popping in for a quick post.  I am working on a project (for work) that is going to be the death of me.  Even my normally unflappable project manager is feeling overwhelmed.  When he can’t keep the details straight I know that I am doomed.

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned what I do for a living – I work for a very large IT Company that offers up service desk support for outside companies.  My job is to develop training plans when new customers come on board.  I develop the overall plan, schedule, logistics (how many trainers, how long will the training be, what materials are needed, etc.), create training materials and generally oversee the process.   Basically I figure out what it is we are supporting, how to support it and create the training plan from that.

Typically the sales team designs these impossible solutions with even more impossible deadlines for the customer and then gleefully hands it over to me (while pocketing their enormous bonuses) and says "make it so."  I actually met the person that designed this particular desk (for my current project) and I wanted to run up to him and kick him in the shins as hard as I could.

Okay enough about that – my blood pressure is percolating enough without me working myself up.

This weekend I finally got around to replanting all the pots on my deck.   It’s tough finding plants in the pale palette that I favor.  Around the Sacramento area the demand must be for hot pinks, reds, oranges and purples because that’s usually all I can find.  I went to four different nurseries on Saturday morning and finally found enough plants in the pale pinks, yellows and blues that I like.

I think the impetus was because we had a new roof put on the house last week and it looks so much better.  I was inspired to make the deck look better too.  We even ate outside on Saturday night.  The weather wasn’t too hot and the deck was so inviting.

Posting will be spotty for the next few weeks – I’ll do my best to pop in but I can’t guarantee that it won’t just be me ranting about my work load.  Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak in some cooking, crafting, decorating type activites.

I always do that ~ say I’m going to be quick and then ramble on….

Your job sounds challenging but just from the little itty bit I know of you from your blog, I would say you are up for the challenge and will tackle it well!

I know I don’t know you but I am stopping everyone today (the lady at Pizza Hut was a little dumbfounded as was the grocery clerk but…)

I just found out yesterday I am going to be a grandmother! I am so happy! My daughter turns 24 next month and they have been married almost 2 years. So my blog will take on a new voice, that is for sure! 🙂

Hope you get to enjoy little moments on the patio when you are not working so hard! I don’t mind reading about your job here while you vent. I’ll listen whenever you want to blow off steam about work!

    Have a great week! 🙂

Your pots look lovely. Good luck with that task at work, I know what that is like.

Hang in there girl. I hate it when my job interrupts my life!

BTW – I am really enjoying the book you sent me! Since there is a reference to Swedish Pea Soup and that is something I grew up on, I am going to inclued my Grandmother recipe and a bag of the speacial peas used for that soup with my give a way.

    Thanks again!

I especially love the pot with all the pale blues in it. I am trying to identify all the flowers–you will have to tell me exactly what all you planted. So pretty!

Wow!! So you are both right brained and left brained. What a girl. Seriously, your job sounds a little high pressure, but you seem to be able to come home and do the house beautiful thing. I would say that is a very good balancing act. Your flower pots are beautiful. Now I will read down some of your other blogs. Susan, Black Eyed Susans Kitchen
