Under a Blue Moon

Decor, cooking, organization, all the pretty things

WIP

Picture_074

During our foray on Saturday to the local quilt shops I was keeping my eye out for lilac/lavender and medium blue fabrics for my morning glory table topper.   I bet 98% of all the fabric I’ve purchased in my lifetime has been 30’s reproduction.  I must have been a housewife in the 30’s in a previous life.

There is just something so sweet and friendly about those prints.

I have a hard time collecting random fabrics.  I really need a quilt shop to have a line of fabrics displayed together with a few examples before I can envision the fabric in my life.   I have NO creativity in that regard.

I had a hard time finding blues that I liked or that matched, rather.

Last night I had a sinking realization that I have to do this same embroidery pattern three more times for the topper.  I am going to be so tired of those colors by the end of this project.

The next project (already mentally moving on) is going to be a white on white throw pillow.  I found a pattern with a circle of vining flowers with the following sentiment in the center:

He loves me
He love me not
It matters little
I’m all he’s got!

Just found your blog and had to respond to this post! I adore the 30s reproduction prints as well. I’ve been collecting them with the intention of doing a quilt someday. Just looking for the perfect pattern to showcase them! I love the embroidery you picked to coordinate with your prints. It’s going to be a lovely project!

I love the way those fabrics look with the embroidery! What is the name of the embroidery pattern?

I love the colors of the fabrics! I’m collecting the same sort of fabrics for a futur project, but only old ones, that I cut from old skirts, dresses, etc…

Your embroidery is lovely! And your fabrics are too–I love the retro-1930’s flair about them! Looking forward to seeing the end result…Happy Days! :o)

Your morning glory runner is going to be beautiful!

The white on white pillow sounds wonderful, too. I love the saying.

My daughter and I have embroidered quilt blocks, the same pattern 12 times. It was good to share the needlework!:-) I think that is the only embroidered quilt she’s done.

What a coincidence! I have that very transfer and I used it to make a couple of pillow shams for our bed. They are several years old now, but they always look so springy and fresh when I put them on the bed! And the embroidery has held up beautifully, even with machine washing.

I’m trying to find the embroidery you are using. My mother had a quilt with those blocks and I’m trying to reproduce it and regretfully there were no pictures of it…only my 60 year old memory. Do you know where I can find one like it or similar to it?
    Thanks!!
