Under a Blue Moon

Decor, cooking, organization, all the pretty things

Happy Summer Solstice

Picture_052_2

I’ve never met a hydrangea that I didn’t like.  I like the big, floppy mophead ones, the lace caps – all the variations of colors.  Love them all.

And right now they are sharing the love – this picture doesn’t do them justice.  The shrub is huge and just opulent with blooms.

I felt like Martha Stewart this morning, wandering out to the grounds and cutting huge armloads and bringing them in (along with a few disgrunted spiders).

The picture above is a bit misleading – it looks cool and shady and in reality it’s been in the 100’s up here.  It takes a lot of water to keep these lovely shrubs happy.  Can’t wait for THAT bill to arrive.

Your photos are everything that summer should be. Hydrangeas are the perfect summer flower, and my absolute favorites.

I’m with you – Andrea. . . there is not a hydrangea that I don’t love. I just wish so – that we could grow them here (Arizona). . . but – nope. So I have collected the best silk ones that I could find & they are all throughout the house – & until I live in a climate that I can have my yard filled with them – I will live vicariously throught your lovely photos! Thanks so much for sharing them!

    Beautiful hydrangea photos!

Our Endless Summers have gorgeous healthy leaves, no buds or blooms. Late frost knocked them way back. Also our Annabelle and Nikko’s are bloomless. I love hydrangeas!

Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! My Annabelle’s and Lacecaps are blooming. My Nikko blues have a few buds but are always pink. I love the blue and have tried adding aluminum phosphate but to no avail….still pink. Enjoy!

What a beautiful colour! I have some here in the Uk but they have reverted to pink. We don’t have the right soil here unfortunately…I suppose I could always try growing it in a pot!
