Uma Thurman's townhouse up for sale
I have been in a mood to redo our master bedroom. I'm running into a little opposition in my plan to paint the walls a very pale seashell pink. Even though I keep telling the opposition how flattering the color will be to his complexion.
I love Uma's parlor above – I like that it is soft and light but not overly feminine. Well at least I don't think it is overly feminine. Maybe my two male readers can weigh in. Except the opposition. You aren't allowed to weigh in.
Here are a few quick shots of our room. Which I've always liked but lately I'm over the pale green walls.
From the doorway, looking into the room:
From the opposite corner, looking towards the door:
And finally from the corner looking towards the sliding glass door (which was hard to take a picture of since the sun was coming in):
I'm thinking I can do a few simple changes. Paint. Ahem. Cover the big, squishy chair with an off-white slipcover. Recover the vanity chair (I'm thinking maybe the palest grey velvet or the palest camel velvet). Remove everything off of the mantel and replace with clear glass or crystal things. Creamy white bed linens. Maybe a throw pillow or two in the same color (but different fabric) as the vanity chair.
And I still want these lamps. I've been coveting these lamps for a few years now. Lampsplus has a less expensive version but I don't like the lines as much.
Take note of where that candle holder/chandelier looking thing is hanging above the vanity. That's where I want to put the chadelier that Kelly gave me once I rewire it. I'll show you a picture of it tomorrow.
So how about some inspiration? What does your master bedroom look like? Or you wish it looked like?

I like the pale green walls… but then, I haven’t been living with them.
Beautiful fireplace too.
Your room is pretty and soothing, can’t wait to see what your changes bring.
Inspires me to think a bit about my space.

Tell the opposition that real men wear pink so they can definitely sleep in it. Or there’s always the couch. Or the tool shed. Wink wink!
Or get him a throw rug that has tools on it. Compromise.

Getting rid of the pale green in my room as well. But tell my how did you get by without curtains on the patio windows?
Love your lamps, I am coveting these ones at the moment:

There are a few issues here. The first is that your husband seems like a very nice and reasonable MAN who has probably owned Pink shirts before. He also has the same name as mine, what a coincidence. It looks like your furniture is dark, and along with your medium dark carpeting makes the room look a little dark and crowded. He probably wouldn’t mind changing the carpeting to a lighter color but that brings up another subject. I think I’ve heard that your cat brings in various animals from outside to finish off in the house (so I’ve heard), and that it may show traces of the act. Perhaps you could move some of the furniture to another room and replace it with a lighter color since I’m sure he would object to painting it White. Good luck with your project. Keep us all informed.

My first impression is of a strong man’s room. Very squared off angles. Definitely paint lighter walls. Decorate with light pillows and maybe some clear glass vases with curvy lines. Instead of recarpeting, perhaps some pastel colored area rugs…

My officemate and I think you and the Pink-Shirt Rick should have your own show. And I am in love with Hailey & Nathan’s bedroom wallpaper on One Tree Hill (yes, I watch that show and love it for all its cheesiness). The wallpaper is dove grey with large wispy white feathers.

Home Goods in San Carlos has two lamps that look just like the ones in the link. By Hotel Balifleur or something. They have more of a round shape shade. 129 bucks a pop. Beautiful!

What do you think of moving the bed so that the head is under the window? So you can be in bed with hubby and look at the fire in the fireplace without staring over your toes? And finding some silvery gray drapes for over the sliding glass door until you can put in French doors? And closing up the shutters on the windows that will be behind the bed? And taking out all of the florals and art work and putting in a lovely beveled mirror on the wall instead, with some candle holders nearby? (I think I see a mirror with candle peeking by the armoire so you like the concept) And exchange the chair for two slipper chairs so you and hubby can sit close in front of the fire before night time snuggling? After sharing some wine?
