Under a Blue Moon

Decor, cooking, organization, all the pretty things

Palmiers et Thé

Palmier

Since I can't come up with my own creative ideas I've decided to try out some of the suggestions on other peoples blogs.

Like these Palmier cookies from French Garden House.

I can remember what a treat these were when I would go to the bakery with my Mom and she would buy one for me.  Crispy, buttery and sugary – what could be better?

The really huge ones we called Elephant Ears.  These little ones are perfect with a cup of tea.

I have re-quit drinking Diet Coke.  I quit last year and didn't drink a single one for about three months.  Then I had one.  And the next day I had another.  Then pretty soon I was drinking two a day.  Last Saturday I had six.  I knew it was time to do something about it.  So I quit cold turkey on Monday.  Tuesday and Wednesday I had a splitting headache but by Thursday I was fine.

I'm drinking iced tea and water for now and when it cools off I'll start drinking pots of hot tea.

For the record these cookies go great with either hot or cold tea.

And I'll be eating them here:

Oh, my! I’m sticking with you no matter what!!
Now, about giving up soft drinks. I have recently decided to give up Dr. Pepper. Like you, I did it once before. It didn’t work. But this time I have some “issues” so must do it. I’ll be thinking about you…maybe you can think about me…together we can quit this thing!!! Meantime, know I’ll always be checking on your blog…I love it.

I tried tasting your palmiers via the screen. They taste like dust to me. Hmm. Why is that? They certainly look lovely and perfect.

Don’t know where “here” is but I want to go there with you. “Here” looks very pretty.

The lovely treats seem quite similar to Kraklingen which is a Dutch pastry. I have the recipe if you would like it although it would be easily found online. The common name for them are Angel Wings, as they are shaped a little differently than the ones you have in the photo.

BTW many of us are going to stay with you NO MATTER WHAT. So just don’t you worry about that any more.

I was afraid you had left your camera at Disneyland. I want to see Disneyland pictures.
Good luck with the Diet Coke thing. Now, if only I could give up chardonnay.

I swear they put something in Diet Coke that makes it addictive! I think Starbucks puts something in their coffee too! I’ve kicked both those habits! I still drink coffee and soft drinks but I know if I have a Diet Coke or a non-fat-no-whip-mocha it’s all over!!!

I want to try making those Palmier cookies too! I love buying those at the bakery!

What a beautifull spot for tea and palmiers. I love them too! I haven’t made them in ages. Maybe I will or maybe I’ll just buy some.

I gave up diet sodas a few months ago and now find that I prefer Crystal light, lemon water or iced tea. It was hard to give up!
The cookie picture is killing me! So tempting. Why must you torture me so?

A dietician at a church gathering recently told the group that diet sodas were so BAD for you, that you’re better off drinking the sugared kind. Just a thought….and good luck with kicking the habit!

Your cookies came out just beautiful! They are so good, too, aren’t they? As a reformed Diet Pepsi drinker, I cheer you on. I am now a water and iced tea girl.
