Kelly, in an effort to shave a year or two off my life's work, gave me these yo-yo clowns. She figured I could disassemble them and have 150 or so finished yo-yos to add to my meager, little collection.
But I don't know. At first I thought they were kind of creepy, being clowns and all. But now they are sort of growing on me. Maybe I should just clean their faces and keep them as they are.
What do you think?

They are actually quite mischevious and sweet looking, and ideal for a grandchilds bedroom at Grandma’s house! So maybe, just maybe, you should clean them up and tuck them in a bookcase until they need to be called to action.

You MUST keep them. They are priceless. I have two clowns like that that my grandmother made. I also have a bigger doll she made too. I know a lot of people are making these now but I think the older ones are really adorable with a lot of character.

I think you should keep them! But that may be because I had one somewhat like them when I was a a child. Brings back memories!

Having watched too many horror films, I would have to take them apart I’m afraid . . . they would scare me too much otherwise!!! I love your blog! Elaine :o)

I definitely think you should keep them…they are too precious! Love their faces!

STILL CREEPY!

Keep them – they are adorable!

They’re clowns…they’re creepy! My son wouldn’t enjoy a clown at his Grandma’s house at all. He was scared to death of clowns when young, and now a little older, he still is. So am I. lol
Love your blog, btw.
Mimi says
They are cute as can be! They’re obviously little cherubs disguised as clowns. Definitely keep them!
Tammy Spencer says
I think it would be a shame to take them apart. Someone obviously put a lot of effort into making them. How would you feel if years down the road something you made got tore apart for the “parts”. They don’t have to be saved for a child’s room. They look great where they are and are so “shabby chic”!
Enjoy them as they are. If you take them apart please don’t post it because it would make me too sad. If all you want is the yo-yo’s…count them and I’ll send them to you in a swap for the clowns!

I kind of like them. I say keepers.
pam says
sorry but you need to take them apart before they come out at night and eat your cat. xo
Jill says
I think they’re kind of cute – and at least they’re smiling!

I love them. I had one as a child and have been trying to find a similar one since. And I hate clowns (just the real people clowns freak me out), but this one I love. Almost bought a similar one on ebay, but it went up to almost $80. I’d say keep them as they are!
Lisa D. says
My first thought was “kinda creepy” but they do have a mischevious charm to them. I think you should keep them.
Nicole says
They certainly do have their own personalities, don’t they? It would be a crime to take them apart after all this time.
LisaInCT says
I have to agree with Pam (above)… they’re creepy… take them apart. Please.
pam says
I think they’re cute.

the one on the left looks like he is plotting something wicked and evil and treasonous … off with his head … and those creepy yarn hands and feet, too!
yeah, i’ve been watching The Tudors.

Hi Andrea-the creep factor outweighs the cute factor for me. I have a beautfiul yo yo coverlet that I put over the top of my pencil post bed, and it looks like a very airy canopy. It’s old, stained, and needs mending, but I love it.
I must admit to scared clown bias.

Evil! Eeeevvvviiiillll!

Don’t take them apart !!I agree with Tammy, someone put a lot of work into them. I have two just like them. It makes we want to go downstairs and find mine. I have a storage room full of things I use to take to flea market set ups and my friend never would let me sell them . I wonder if this was a 1950’s craft?

Take them apart! I was traumatized as a child by one of those clowns. I had completely forgotten about it until I arrived on your blog today and started exploring. Great blog! Scary Clowns!
