Under a Blue Moon

Decor, cooking, organization, all the pretty things

Chéri

Cheri

CinEmpire

I can't wait for the movie Chéri to come out.  It's based on the novel of the same name by Colette but that isn't the reason I want to see it.  I want to see it for the set.  And for Kathy Bates.

KBates

It is set in Paris in the 1920's.  Costumes are going to be fabulous.  I think I have to go to the UK, Belgium or Germany to see it though.  I can't find a US release date.

I know I've posted about this before but really I just go to the movies to see the sets.  Practical Magic, Stepmom, Amelie, Chocolat, Passion of Mind, The Holiday, Something's Gotta Give, Green Card, You've Got Mail, Father of the Bride…I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

What's your favorite movie for the sets or the costumes?

I’d just add a couple to your list: What Lies Beneath (love that house) and Don’t Look Now (love that city – Venice).

Oh yeah, I would love to see that too ! Love costume movies ! I have to study them to see how the costumes are made. And like you, I enjoy the background decorations. Let us know if you find a US release date. I agree with the previous comment about Pride & Prejudice, great movie.
Love your page, I check it everyday. Your comments and experiences of everyday life are appreciated ! Sorry, I should comment more. Thanks !

I loved the apartment in “Green Card.” And the village in Chocolate. And yes, the house in “What Lies Beneath” was great.

I like the shop in “Bell, Book and Candle,” too, and Karen Blixen’s home in Kenya in “Out of Africa.”

Can’t wait! As a costumer, I think Anna and the King is but one of my all time favorites, but then there is Gone with the Wind and so on and so on… ~Kelly

My favorite set will forever be Something Has Gotta Give. I think I was meant to live in that house.

It’s a bit of an oldie, but I love “A Room With A View.” Those Edwardian dresses and big hats, and the big country house that the Honeychurches live in!

I love movies from the 40’s and the way the home sets are decorated, too. A favorite is “Laura.” Gene Tierney’s apartment and country home are so pretty–I always wish I could see them in color!

Love the house in Practical Magic! It’s my favorite. Ditto Janelle…I love the old ones as well. And most of the ones you’ve listed.
