Didn’t it seem like this week just whipped by? Feels like I was just sitting here thinking how Friday is my favorite day of the week.
I have a proud announcement. Today is Day Four with having had NO Diet Coke. And I haven’t killed anyone yet. I had a six to eight cans a day habit (okay not proud about that) and I just decided that I needed to stop. It wasn’t doing me any good and it was keeping from drinking the amount of water I should be drinking. Plus there are all these ominous reports out how diet sodas make you fat and aluminum cans cause Alzheimer’s (not sure I believe that one…). It was time to stop.
I imagine Coca Cola stock is plummeting right now.
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day. If you get past the Hallmark aspect of it really can be a sweet day. I was telling someone that I had the very first Valentine gift Rick gave to me back when we were 19 years old. It is a little, black, heart shaped box with hand painted flowers on it.
I wanted to find it and I pulled out a box I haven’t gone through since we moved here seven years ago and I found these little figurines that Rick had given his mother when he was a little boy. When we had our own boys she gave them back to him.
He’s always been sweet like that.

I’m so proud of you for kicking the habit of diet coke. My brother in law had a serious habit also and finally gave it up. He started having stomach problems, not related to the coke, but the doctor told him that it wasn’t the best thing for his tummy. He is feeling much better for quitting. He never drank ANY water!! Now things have changed for him.
I love Valentine’s Day for it’s original origins and all the cute hearts and decorations. I kept my husband’s first Valentine to me and the one I gave him back in 1982. His was a hand drawn bouquet of roses and mine was a self portrait that I had taken in my photography class. I too was 19 at the time.
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and decided to start my own. I’m inviting people to take a look if they would like. Yours is one I read daily,as you are a fellow Californian 🙂
Just stopping by to say hi and wish you a lovely weekend!

Ryan gave me a mouse for our first Valentine’s. A real one, his name was Hurlbert. I let him go in the park becuase he was too stinky and drove Jeeves mad. What nice treasures you discovered yesterday!
I used to have a little squirrel like that umpteen million years ago! (LOL)Good for you on the diet coke thing…I’m still struggling with it, although in my case it’s diet Pepsi.Hopefully, I can kick the diet pop habit too.Love the heart box Andrea, it’s so lovely that you still have it after all this time. Have a happy weekend!:)
No joke, you gave up Diet Coke? I think we saw the same report. I am on Day 6!! And it is killing me. Iced Tea does not have the same effect whatsoever. Good luck to you, my diet-coke-fiend-sister! I was thinking about doing an “ode to Diet Coke” post, but then I would have to buy some to take a picture. And that, my dear, may cause a serious relapse…
OH! I found your blog while I was traipsing around craft blogs. I’m so thrilled to see someone else speak about soda addiction. I am facing this myself…amazing that I feel so ashamed! I’ve set a target date of spring equinox for stopping. I wish you well…and thank you for sharing that!
Good for you on giving up the Diet Coke. That was a lot of it to drink in a day’s time. I love your little heart and the figurines. I am sure they bring a smile to you every time you see them.
I am soo proud of you Andrea, hang in there. In time you will find yummier, heather things to drink !!!! Or at lest feel better. Oh just think what you can buy with your diet soda money xoxoxoxo Clarice
Good for you…maybe last time you just weren’t there yet. Just think~~you can drink more wine now! LOL!!!
Actually for every glass of anything a glass of water to chase it down!

Congrats! I know how breaking a habit can be super hard. You’re going to be so happy in a couple of weeks, being all fully hydrated and all 😀
