I haven’t made much (any) progress on my runner so far this week. Probably because I’ve been so busy hanging out at flickr looking at embroidery examples. I’m feeling the urge to get out my embroidery hoop again.
I seem to be drawn to the simple, sweet designs. I saw several pictures that were from a Japanese embroidery book. After a bit of sleuthing (okay not so much – other bloggers are very intrepid and quicker than I am to find these things) I see I can buy it from Superbuzzy.
While searching I went down a rabbit hole of Japanese crafting and I now I NEED some Japanese craft magazines. So cute. I’m going to head over to our local Asian shopping center and see what I can find.

Try finding a Kinokuniya bookstore. That’s where I’ve gotten several Japanese craft books. Joanne fabrics also carries a couple of Japanese embroidery transfers.

I did the very same thing with the Japanese crafts this past fall! I was all set to order some books/magazines from Superbuzzy, then realized that I only live 20 min. from San Francisco and can go to Japan town for them. They have a gigantic book store there that has so many craft magazines that I went crazy. The dress patters are so beautiful also and I may attempt one of them for my daughter. They are on the tiny side so none of the patterns would every fit me!! Next time you are in the city, check out that book store. All of a sudden I can’t remember the name, but it is the only large one there and when you go on the web to search for Japan town I’m sure it will come up.

I’ve been wanting to buy some japanese craft books, just haven’t yet, they are somewhat expensive. Of course I buy so many books anyways thats not really an excuse. I got back into embroidery this past summer. I found a great site Sublime Stitching that have some great patterns.

Sweet stitcheries – hope you found some inspirational books/magazines. I think embroidery is probably one of the most relaxing things I do. Well it does involve sitting in my recliner maybe that’s why, LOL.’
Happy Sunday – Karen

I loved doing simple embroidery when I was little, but for some reason as I grew up, I became too impatient for it! heehee I could see the finished product in my mind, but my hands wouldn’t work fast enough! =)
