Noteworthy
A couple of noteworthy links.
Thanks to SoInspired for turning me onto Cathy Jean – purveyor of charming, well um, charms. I am so inspired by her work.
I’ve been looking like mad online for good resources for bits and pieces for collage art. I’ve run across Paper Valise (and just made a big ol’ order – can’t wait to get it) and ArtChix who have great stuff for sale and great examples of work done with their bits and pieces. So many talanted people out there. I don’t know if I feel encouraged or hopeless.
Finally finished something
I found a partial solution to my problem with not being able to see anything on the Greengate websiste – I found the catelogue in pdf format in English. So I still can’t figure out how to get anything but at least I can look at the pretty pictures and read the accompanying text.
One of the many charming things they have to offer are bread basket cloths. I figured heck even I could make one of those. So here is my first attempt. It’s two sided with coordinating fabrics and has lace trim all around:
And my second:
I bought the fabrics at Country Oaks Cottage Quilt Shop (I think you have to go in person – I don’t think she sells online) and the trim at the dreaded JoAnn Fabrics. I hate that place. But where else can you go for yards and yards of lace trim for cheap?
In my garden
My garden is shady and hot. It’s hard to realize the informal English garden of my dreams because if I turn my back for a second everything wilts in the heat. That, and the fact the property is just too big. So I content myself by gardening in pots on the deck and in beds right around the house.
The pot in the center was given to me by my mother in law. I love how ancient it looks – it’s actually pretty old but I’m not sure just exactly how old. I usually have bacopa and begonias growing in it but I’m not really sure where the begonias went in this shot. I have a bed under our bedroom window with hydrangeas, foxgloves and impatiens planted. Belle is guarding things as you can see. Her eyes are as green as the hydrangea leaves.
Heartsick
I am inconsolable.
One of the pleasures of the blogging world is that that you discover a blogger that you really like. They have links to other bloggers with similar sensiblities – they open your world to yet more websites that you may have never come across – it’s very bacon-esque. Only you come across the penultimate website. This is you only someone else has realized it. You feel an almost spiritual connection. And you can’t read a damn thing because is it is Danish.
I need everything at the GreenGate etailer website. Everything.
Things aren’t always as they seem…
I love a surprise. Especially in a design element. Like a little insider joke. My online frined Daenacat recieved these shoes from her very sweet, and intuitive boyfriend:
Yes she loves converse – but there is more to the design than meets the eye.
Here’s a little preview of her work – click on it to see more:
