Under a Blue Moon

Decor, cooking, organization, all the pretty things

Kitchen redo

Picture_065

Tile is up!  It only took us two and a half years into the kitchen remodel to finally make a decision and have someone lined up to put it up on the walls for us.  While he was at it he fixed a few wonky tiles in the bathrooms.

We are the world’s worst procrastinators.  Or should that be the best procrastinators?  We are very good at it.  Honestly – the tile cost all of $122 so it wasn’t the exorbitant price that hindered the completion of this project.  We just operate that way.  With our last house we finally painted over the 40’s pistachio green about ten years after we moved in and the only reason we did it then was because we wanted to sell the place.

We still have a teeny bit of work that needs to be completed – like getting the baseboards tacked back on and the crown molding caulked and painted.  Then we can sell this place.

I vow that the next place we live in will be fixed up exactly the way we want it within a year of moving in.  So we can enjoy the fruits of our labors rather than just making it pretty for someone else.

I won’t be sad to move from here but I will miss this kitchen.

The kitchen turned out so well! Congratulations!

We do the same things though…put things off and only make the house really pretty in order to sell it to someone else!! I hate that.

Where are you moving to? Do you know yet?
    God bless.

HI Have been reading your blog for awhile but never posted. Can I ask you a couple questions re: the kitchen?
What kind of stove is that and are you happy with it? and what kind of countertops are those?
I love your kitchen and wish I lived in CA so I could buy it.
We are just getting ready to remodel our 40 yr old house with dark plywood cabinets..urghghg. You have my dream kitchen look! Beautiful! Mim

Love the subway tiles! Are you moving farther south like you mentioned a while back? I get so attached to houses, I would be very sad to leave that kitchen!! I think all kitchens should be white like yours, very classy and never goes out of style.

For me – it was work work work on the house and once we got it all beautiful…then we decided to sell! Your kitchen is amazing though and your home will sell very quickly because of it!

    It turned out wonderfully!

Don’t feel to bad about the procrastinating. You’re not alone. We do the same…in fact I’ve often thought we are probably the world’s slowest renovators.

I adore your entire kitchen. It has nearly all of the elements that I’d like incorporate in mine and the floor plan is very similar too. It was so nice to see my own vision in person. I would miss your kitchen too if it were mine and I had to leave it. Best wishes on the sale of your lovely home.
