Weeeeeee ~ Typepad is all different. This should be fun. I composed an entire post and went to do a final edit on a picture and it crashed my browser and I lost everything. And now my pictures and text keep posting all wonky. I don't think I like this. Someone may be resistant to change….
Did you all see the picture of my backyard on the last Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion?
Okay so not really my garden but it should be. It's how I picture my backyard to look, right down to the scattered rose petals.
I love everything about it and I just poured over the article. Most of the article in on the interior of the house (which is lovely) but I wanted to see more of the garden and particularly the table setting.
I am totally coveting the stemware on the table. Unfortunately the product guide doesn't give any information on them
So I got out my trusty google and searched away.
I found these glasses at Ballard Design. The shape is right and I love the short stem (great for tossing into the dishwasher) but I'm not sure how I feel about insects on my stemware. I love bees in person but maybe not on something I am going to be pressing against my lips.
It's a tie between the next two – I keep going back and forth. I love the etching on the Sur La Table glasses below. The shape isn't as appealing to me as the Ballard Design ones (which have a flatter bottom to the bowl part of the glass).
But the etching on the last glass, from Pierre Deux , is a little more delicate. At the moment they are my favorite. Come on by and we'll sit under the pergola sipping pink lemonade and smelling the roses.
Speaking of glasses – I made PW's Pots de Creme mainly because I thought they looked so pretty served in the wine and champagne glasses. I modified the recipe a bit – using scalded half and half rather than coffee (since I'm not a coffee drinker and didn't have any in the house) and I used less chocolate because someone might have gotten into the bag last night and eaten some.

I am laughing wayyyyyyyyyyyy to hard – I think I snorted (right here in the library!) I’m reading along thinking, “whose blog am I reading? wow, I know someone cool enough to make the cover of a cool magazine! oh wow..hmmm…no i don’t.” I’m still laughing. And the stemware and all that was fine too, and I want the recipe but I’ll confess that I didn’t read very carefully cuz I was still laughing. Still am…I might need to go home early. ~Lee
Andrea, check out TJ Maxx for more of those bee glasses. I’ve seen several of those same glasses there for a couple of years now. I have some with fleur de lis on them. They are cute!
Someone “may” have gotten into the bag of chocolate? hmmmmmm….
I like a lot of the Ballard design stuff. Have you ever looked through their catalog?
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
God bless.
Terri
Hey I might be wrong, but I think world market has some glasses like the French bee one’s and are a lot cheaper. Your pots de cream looks yummy. A good cook can improvise as a moments notice 😉 Clarice
Hi Andrea,
I have the bee glasses in a high ball and double old fashion. I love them, and they wash very well in the dishwasher. But I do love the Pierre Deux ones the best for being so delicate. The bee ones I use as everyday. I bought these beautiful crystal glasses when I was in Scotland, and at the time could only afford two. I dropped a hint to my dad that I would love to have maybe another two for our anniversary, so we shall see. They are etched in the style of William Morris and are called “Tapestry.” They can only be bought from England at http://www.chinaetc.co.uk (Royal Scot) They are so pretty, but last I looked, in U.S. dollars, each one of them is $54.00! It is our silver wedding anniversary, so I’m holding out some hope.
After posting twice and spending several hours on Typepad, I figured out that you have to choose Custom whan you click on Image Insert. Then you select the large size photo option and make sure NO WRAP is selected. It took forever. And I still can’t figure out spell check. It just highlights whatever it thinks you mispelled in yellow. Gee thanks.
I like the last glass option. The delicacy suits your taste I think.
I like the ones with the bees for just fun everyday and kids would really like them but as for nice ones I like the Pierre Deux too, I think they would look very pretty with a nice colorful drink in them ! So how did the Pots de Creme turn out ?
I like the bee glasses!
after i fell off my office chair reading that it WAS your backyard i realized you were like me it’s your pretend backyard too! I only wish i had a yard that looked like that. We have been in remodeling phase for 2 years that’s right I said it outloud 2 years… maybe someday i will be on the cover of mary’s mag…. and you? I adore the bee glasses but your other choices are fab too… ok I am off to the backyard to dream have a good day
p.s. i love your crafty project too cute
