What a day yesterday, no? I feel such a sense of hope and optimism that has been sorely lacking around these parts.
Not everything went my way, particularly in the state measures area but one that did pass was prop. 2 – regarding the humane treatment of farm animals. While this seems like a no brainer I can, in this uncertain economic time, understand why some people would oppose it, figuring it will most certainly affect their pocket book.
I would have voted yes no matter what but my decision was helped along by the fact that I'm hoping not to have to actually PAY for my eggs before too long. Once Rick and I can come to an agreement on whether we want to get chicks or grown chickens to start out with.
Our chickens will have the most HUMANE living conditions. They are going to live in a chicken palace, eat premium organic food, have a cat to torment and maybe we'll throw in regular massages and movie night once a week.
We found a lovely home for our goats – they are living on a 10-acre farm with other goats, llamas and a horse. The man that took them says his in-laws have a little house on the property and the goats go visit them every day.
Now that the goats have moved out we can convert their home into the chicken palace.
Speaking of chickens look what Rick got for me. It helps to leave broad hints in ones blog. Sneaky guy ordered it and had it sitting on the mantel. I must be sick of looking at that mantel because it took me half the day to even notice it and even then Rick had to TELL me that there was something new in the house.

Andrea, You have a nice Rick at your place. Very thoughtful. My son-in-law is named Rick and I have a brother in law with the same name too. They are nice also. We are very lucky, aren’t we! Enjoy your blog so much!!! Take care. Pat
THAT IS SOOOOO SWEEET!
I want one too…
What a sweet husband:>) What kind of chickens will you get? There are so many beautiful varieties and you can choose between white and brown eggs. I always choose brown just because I love the way they look.
Andrea,
It makes me feel SO, SO good you treat your animals humanely. I was so happy Prop 2 passed as well! You will have to take a picture of your new chickens when you get them!
Michelle 🙂
I love the chicken dish!
What a great guy you have.
i love chickens! i’m hoping one day that we, too, can have a chicken palace.
i hope you’ll share pictures. 🙂
Love your chicken! I can’t to hear about it when you get real ones!
Very cute, and I’m so glad that our goats have found a happy home! Maybe you should make chickens the theme of your mantel. I can imagine some cute framed pictures of your little red chick, and then I know you’ll never get sick of looking at it!
Another chicken lover!!! What is it with bloggers and chickens, lol. I got to visit with some last weekend but we can’t have any here in our city. Dh wouldn’t go for it either anyway.
