I would like to share with you a little e-mail exchange between Rick and I last week:

Good Morning,
How are things going this morning?
It was my mom calling yesterday when I was talking to you. She wanted to know if we would like her nice silver set that is in her dining room. I said I like it, but don't think we have room for it right now, but would check with you to see if you would like to have it now.
What time are you coming up today/tonight?
I love you,
Rick

Are you kidding me!? I've been coveting that silver set for 25 years! We'll make room for it.
Why on earth does she want to get rid of it?
I love you too.

Can you even imagine the utter casualness of the "I don't think we have room for it" ?? I think my eyeballs just about jumped out of my head when I read that. Honestly.
There is something going on with my camera and my pictures are turning out really grainy. It's too bad because I don't think I can adequately convey, in words, how gorgeous it is. It has this unique coffee pot that it pivots on a stand for pouring.
The set weighs about eight million pounds and is in desperate need of a polish. And, needless to say, is now in my hot little hands.

That’s a truly amazing set. I was just polishing silver the other day…will be writing about it soon as it did not quite go as planned. I use a set of silver flatware for every day – some think I am nuts, but I believe using it is loving it. ~Kelly
HOLY MOSES!
That is FAN. TAS. TIC.
That is indeed a very lovely set!
My hub’s name is also Rick. 🙂 Just thought I’d share. Reading those emails reminds me of how we email each other too.
Enjoy the new silver set, lucky woman! Men don’t know much of anything sometimes!
Without question you would make room for a set like that! Men!
I hope you use the silver often.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
I am also waiting for my father ………………..to ask if I would like the family tea set…………….. similar to yours ………………that belong to my great grand parents…………………. and alway sat on the side board………………….. in the dinning room in the farm house …….I have my grand fathers parents clock that no one wanted……………… and 20 years………………. later every one wants it
Men! you gotta love em, but what are they thinking? Love the tea set!
That’s a beautiful tea set. I’d love to see it again once you’ve had the time to polish it up-I’ll bet it’s gorgeous!
Oh my. That is one gorgeous silver set. Men. For Heaven’s sake, they so often get it wrong, don’t they?
If you don’t have room for it, you can keep it at my house…
Let’s use it at our anual Mother’s Day Tea! We can fill the coffee pot with the champagne.
Something can be said for patina. Take it easy on that lovely set.
Oh my gosh! Lucky you! It’s even better because it’s a family heirloom now! It’s gorgeous!!!
How wonderful to recieve such a beautiful tea set. I have never seen one so complete. Also I really liked your year in pictures. A very nice way to remember 2008. TTFN
Andrea, Keep it, clean it, LOVE it!!!! Pat
ahah I don’t even know you in ‘real life’ but even *I* knew that you would LOVE that set….your husband must’ve had a little brain fart of some sort.
It’s beautiful and I cannot wait to see what you do with it. Be sure to post pictures.
