This morning I was looking at a piece of vintage lace and I realized that it needed washing.
I went to the laundry room and pulled out various jugs of laundry detergent, fabric softeners and stain removers so I could get to my trusty box of Biz at the back of my cupboard. I was grumbling that this was a totally unsatisfactory arrangement especially since I use the box of Biz a lot.
Then I had one of the aha moments where your carefully planned out day takes an entirely different direction.
I had an old jar in the garage so I dragged it out and scrubbed it then I made a stencil of the word "Biz" and etched it on the jar. The result is subtle but the addition of a small china mug to replace the plastic scoop and I think it is way more charming than the ugly old box.
We are having a blissfully gloomy day here in Granite Bay. Yesterday's 100 degree temperatures have been replaced with cool, rainy clouds and the occasional far off rumble of thunder. A perfect day to curl up on the couch and read. Only when I got up to refill my iced tea someone had claimed the couch for her royal self.
Look at that – she has no intention of sharing the couch with me.

Andrea such a great idea! And infinitely more beautiful than the ugly boxes we bring home from the store. Brilliant!
And Kitty ~ I would have the heart to disturb such blissful rest either.
Sooo cute. 🙂
I’m happy to hear you’re having a reprieve from the HOT weather. xo ~m
PS I composed a comment a few days ago about how perfect your tarts were … but, uh, I must not have verified the security code after posting. oops.
Well, they are BEAUTIFUL, and you really know how to spoil your guests!

Oh now really! That Belle is just too much! Smack dab in the middle of the couch. She did that on purpose. That darn cat.
The Biz jar is very cute and I love the idea of the tea cup as a scoop. Very clever you are!

I love your blog. I enjoyed your Biz transformation, also reading about the pig and the bird cage cover. You sound obsessed like I do at times. Cute cat, too. I guess she knows who’s the boss around there.

Hey, where did that cat come from…I’m a relative newbie to your blog and did not know you had a cat……I had to go back 5 months to find another reference to the cat, and even then it was under the bed covers! What does she think of Remy?
I love how you have a knack for taking everyday life and making prettier. I might enjoy going into my laundry room if I spent some time with a few decorations. Great Jar Idea!!

I love your soap jar. What a great idea too. Aren’t our pets so considerate of us when we find a nice cozy spot? I think they watch until we leave and then pounce and take over. I love the book in the previous post too.

I just knew that when I saw your title “Laundry Day”, it would be something beautiful!

The picture of the cat is just hysterical. I love your Biz idea so I will shamelessly copy it.
