Gah! No wonder I am stressed out at work. My workspace Feng Shui is a mess!
Whole Living has an article in their January/February issue about taking control of your workspace and applying Feng Shui practices to your desk and surrounding work area.

Let's take a look at how my space measures up, shall we?
In my wealth corner I have a cardboard box filled with all the crap I swept off my desk two weeks ago in order to convey a sense of calm and order (Ha!). In my relationship corner I have a cutting tool. That can't be good! My family and knowledge areas are littered with cords, miscellaneous scraps of paper and a big old tea stain. My creativity and helpful people space is currently bogged down with phonebills, decking samples and a bottle of nail polish that I hate but haven't thrown out yet. My health area is completely neglected as it is the only clear spot on the table. Oh – my fame and reputation area is home to another cardboard box that has trash in it.
I did get the career bit right. But then that is pretty much the obvious spot for my laptop and not much else will fit there.
Other than clearing off the clutter I had a hard time applying some of the practices. For example in the wealth corner I should have a water feature or a plant. But I'm a creature of habit and I like having my stuff that I reach for all the time in that area. So I put my in/out box there. I do have a water bottle there – maybe that will count.
In the front left knowledge I should have a blue candle burning but I'm left-handed so that is where I need to keep my notebook and pen. I would probably end up knocking a candle over.
I did put my phone where they suggest it should go – in the lower right, helpful people section. I also have kleenex there because that's helpful. At least to me and my chronically runny nose it is. Hmm maybe it should be in the health area in the middle.
Oh well. I'm going with a cleaner work area and that has to help.

Looks much better! Couldn’t help but notice you posed water in your “usual beverage” spot. (Nice try!)

Funny Keith!! I want to know where you put all of the stuff that was there??? My own clutter just gets pushed around or stacked more neatly!!

and where does one put the lunch that one eats at her desk everyday?

Where is the “Have to have a desk fan because I am menopausal and live in Florida and will burst into flames” spot according to Feng and the Shuiettes?

I guess this is in your kitchen .. isn’t that a frig on the right? I am thinking that the view above your laptop of the shelving is too busy and not good for thinking. Could you turn the laptop around to face the other way? Or would there be a glare on your screen? What is the view? Even though you are used to the shelves, your mind perhaps is still needing to calibrate and decipher all those objects, subconsciously. Just a thought.

I don’t mean to be rude, but I’m laughing. You should see my work area – it’s an absolute shambles with all the areas overlapping one another with “stuff”. I’ll have to try the feng shui way of it, but I’m really not sure it would stay that way for more than a minute… sheesh. ::Jill
