  • I am loving these three dimensional cards – especially the Secret Decoder one.  The Baby/Stork one is pretty cute too
  • I can pictures a dozen or so of these pretty little tealight crystal chandeliers hanging from the branches of trees for a garden party
  • Another book on my wishlist: Chicken and Egg by Janice Cole.  Particularly useful since the chickens are stepping up their production once again.
  • I would love this terrarium, filled with lush greenery, on my coffee table.

Where did the week go?  Seriously – what a fast and busy week this has been.  It is going to be rainy and gloomy so I am going to stay cozy at home and work on a little sewing/embroidery project.   Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

What day is it?  Wednesday?  How did that happen?  Another week zipping along.  I just hang on and hope for the best.

On Saturday we had fabulous weather (a very brief interlude from the rain) so Rick and I did garden type chores and errands.  We stopped in at a local nursery and then spent the afternoon planting (see post below).

I love the hanging baskets that are pre-planted and ready to go.  Instant gratification.

The nice weather was shortlived and we've spent every day since with our noses pressed up to the window, looking out at the pouring rain.  I feel like those two kids in The Cat in The Hat.

Well the rain is good for all our newly planted additions to the garden.

Everything has a nice patina of moss growing on it.   I bought that wall fountain at the Half Moon Bay Nursery and I think it was the best $65 I've ever spent.

One of the first things we need to do when the rain lets up is build a fence.  I want to enclose the Palais so we can let the chickens roam in a contained area, free from the threat of coyotes.  We let them roam but we have to be out there with them so it limits the amount of time they can free range.

This is the fence I want (below).  I have always loved it's simplicity and the pretty scalloped edge along the top.  You can still buy that type of fencing material but it's hard to find.  I have found an online source for it.  I used to think I wanted a picket fence but I think that visually it will be too heavy looking when you look down towards the chicken coop.

This is one of my favorite pictures.  I want to know what those girls' lives ended up being like.  They both look so happy and sweet.  Click on it to see it bigger.

So is everyone groggy this morning?  I do not care for this time changing business.  Well except in the Fall when I get an extra hour of sleep.  To further complicate things (things being my internal clock which is always 45 minutes late anyway) my iPhone is all confused.  I use it as my alarm clock and last night I checked and it was set for 6:45am but it went off at 5:45am instead.  I turned if off and checked the settings and it said 6:45am so I went back to sleep and of course it most certainly did not go off then.

We had gorgeous weather on Saturday so Rick and I took advantage and spent the day…looking at rocks.   We are planning on some landscaping work this Spring and went to a place that sells rocks to look at our options for a retaining wall.  We want a natural rock wall.

We also purchased a number of plants – lemon tree, azalea, lily of the valley shrub and a hanging basket of petunias and bacopa.  Then "we" planted them.  This consists of me pointing out where I want said plants and Rick doing all the work.  Hey it works for me.

I'm still working on my pc issues.  Hope to be back up and running this week.  Mostly I am missing my photo editing software.  For now I give you Belle, from my iPhone.  Belle is naturally beautiful and doesn't need any Photoshopping.

  • Loving this blog/website: Nice Package Okay maybe a bit provocative of a title – it's a website devoted to wrapping things nicely.
  • Sweet little change purse
  • Another lovely website:  Sweet Designs All kinds of fun party ideas by Amy Atlas
  • I just ordered this book:  A Very Modest Cottage And here you can read a little bit more about a woman that rescued a 1922 cottage and moved it from Illinois to Wisconsin (and how she talked her husband and brother into helping her).  I love the notion of saving a lovely little home from certain ruin and giving it new purpose.
  • Has anyone seen My House in Umbria?  I love Maggie Smith and this looks like my kind of movie (pretty house, pretty setting, feel good story).

Well.  This has been quite the week.  Major PC trauma.  Both the work and the home PC bit the dust.  I hope to be functional early next week.  I hope everyone has a delightful weekend.

  • Intrigued by this book.  If only for the pictures.  I love collecting little bits and pieces that I think I'll use in a project some day.
  • Still on my quest to find the perfect bike basket.  I love this one.  But I think some handy gentleman could easily make it.  Love the beverage holder.
  • A very affordable alternative to Anthropolgie.
  • This print is just so sweet.  For a nursery or child's room.  It's not too sweet to have in a guest room or powder room too.
  • Mia's Bead should just put me on the payroll.  I love this necklace.  Can see it with a white tanktop and a tan.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
